Viking Malt Group has decided to make a strategic investment in Lahti, Finland, and build a new malting house. According to the company, the 90 million euro project is one of the biggest investments in the Finnish food and beverage industry and in the Lahti region during the past 10 years. The production capacity will be around 85,000 tons per year. Start of operation of the new malting house is planned in 2023.
Viking Malt sells its products globally to the food, beverage and brewing industries. The company has a long history, today guided by the 5th generation of the same family. The new plant in Lahti will enable Viking Malt to produce a variety of new products on top of the current selection.
Viking Malt Group operates production sites in 5 countries: in addition to Finland there is a plant also in Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania as well as two plants in Poland. The production capacity is 600,000 tons per year and the turnover of the group is appr. 250 million euros and the company employs appr. 250 employees.
